LX570 "rack leaking"
Received my service invoice in the mail from our Lexus dealership service department and there were a few items on there that were not discussed with me when I collected the vehicle, one of which was that the rack is leaking and needs to be replaced.
I called the dealership today to ask about the urgency of replacing or repairing it and was told that the rubber seals/gaiters cannot just be replaced - the entire thing needs replacing... at a cost of about $4000 including labour. As you can imagine, I am none too impressed. I have no clue, and neither do the dealership service department people, about the urgency of the leak. I am due for another service this Friday but, of course, they would need to order the parts, etc. Since they don't know how urgent it is, I have no idea what to do about it! We have a lot of travelling to do over the Christmas period and I am reluctant to put my family at risk if this is a serious issue.
Anyone have any experience with this, especially on the 2008 LX570? I am in NSW, Australia.
