I was wondering if any of the forum members know how much weight the rear tailgate can handle when it is in the down position. Thank you.

By the size of the cables, I'd guess safely maybe 200 pounds or so.

What do you plan on placing on the tail gate?

As I have stated in other threads this month, the LX 570 is going to replace my ford raptor, so I do some " outdoor things" like hunting and hiking, and this time of year I feed whitetail deer. So when I pickup deer feed once every 2 weeks I have about 800 pounds of payload in the raptors back bed. When I am unloading the deer feed I will have about 300-400 pounds on the tail gate while I unload. I know the lx can handle the 800 pounds of payload, I was just wondering about how much weight you can put on the tailgate.

400 pounds hasn't been a problem for the tailgate on any of my 3 LXs.
