LX 570 shudder / vibration when turning
#16
Cold is always worse than warm and some days the vibration isn't really there at all.

Well here is kind of an update from my original post. First thank you all for replies.
After much reading in the owners manual - the thing is massive. Was looking under the VSC vehicle stability control and traction control. Lexus states in the manual that you will feel vibration and shudder felt sometimes from these systems through the frame and steering wheel while the system is working (doing its job)
It states that you can turn off traction control and VSC by holding the button in for 3 seconds.
I did this and watched on the info screen to see VSC system off!. Once off the vehicle has NO vibration or slight shudder when you turn the wheel. Totally smooth. The system will reset once the vehicle is cycled off and on. So from what i'm reading in the manual this just may be the norm for this vehicle. Also with talking with some other Lexus techs they say that hands down the LX470 is a smoother vehicle than the 570.
Still may take it in and see what they have to say. Not sure if this is something they redesigned on the 2009 to eliminate the problem. Still love the vehicle though. Just amazing!!!

Sorry for trying to revive such an old thread. My 2010 LX570 does the same thing. I tried turning the VSC off and it was still noticeable. Did you ever narrow it down to the actual cause?

Mine does the same (when doing hard left / right turn at slow speed) but only when vehicle is cold. After driven for a mile or so the vibration during slow speed hard lt/rt turn would go away. I wonder if it's the 'fluid' that sank to the bottom after parked for a while and after driven enough the fluid will get to all other parts.

Would like to try and revive this thread and get to the bottom of this... I have a 2011 GX460... It is the identical problem and i havent been able to find an answer on it... Just doesn't feel like a normal thing to be dismissed . Feels like a shudder that starts when turning from A stand still and steering turned to either 7oclock or 5 o'clock.... I will try and turn off VSC ... But has anyone else come up with a fix? Just trying to eliminate a transfer case or a front diff. I know coming from a BMW background that tire circumference plays a big roll on those cars... Anything more than. 1% difference in tire circumference from front to rear or side to side would be picked up by ABS module and stability will start to intervene..

I'm pretty sure it's the Torsen center diff. I had an AWD 4th Gen 4Runner- did the same thing. Have had a few Audis with the Torsen center diff- they had a similar shudder when turning slow and tight circle. Current LX570 does it.
I'd say normal, don't worry about it.
