Default Removed a lot of chrome from my black LX 570

All chrome window moldings replaced with black LC 200 window moldings.

Chrome door handles replaced with LC 200 black door handles.

Removed door moldings.

Silver roof rack painted black.

I personally like the look better but I did have a black LC 200 before and simply not get used to all the chrome on the LX.

I have always wanted black wheels. I like the stock if I could just get a pair black powder coated. How durable would powder coat be compared to the finish on the stock wheels?

Not sure what this means. I guess it means I think some chrome looks better on door handles than no chrome. I did not. This is why I removed the chrome door handles. They reminded me of my grandmom's old Caprice Classic from when I was a kid.

Default Black Chrome Looks Great!

Can you share some of the details of the "black chrome," or whatever process you used?

In 2000, I bought my second Landcruiser, because all of the AZ dealers were hanging on tons of chrome, and the two vehicles were much closer to each other, back then.

Just picked up my 2013 LX-570, and really like what you did.

Not quite sure who I need to contact in the Phoenix area, to do similar, so any tips would be appreciated.

Nice looking truck.

Just dropped into a high-end body shop in Phoenix. I discussed the bright chrome, and their only option was to prep the chrome, and then paint it with automotive paint. They warned me that on the handles, and the front-end, it would chip and wear, pretty quickly. All of that for $ 2,000. Looking for alternatives, that would last/wear better.

To be honest I think it looks better with the door mouldings. The problem with the LX is the lack of more expensive options that I would gladly pay for. A supercharged model, visible muffler tips (sports option), leather dashboard, etc. I see you upgraded the tail lamps, did you have to modify the harness?

I didn't do anything to the chrome. I ordered black parts from a land cruiser.

You should of just got an LC, these little features is why 570 owners pay 30k plus for the 570.

Great! I am stopping by my old Toyota dealer, and talking to their parts dept.

Any caveats, or special considerations that one would need to make, to do a replacement job, like yours?

Though I think I mentioned it, you have a lovely LX!!! Nice job.

Thanks,

Hunt
