Default Lexus Export Program

Anyone know why Lexus is so big on not allowing a vehicle to be exported. Do all dealerships follow this? When inquiring for a new LX, I felt like some dealerships grilled me about the car not being for my own use?

lexus does not like cars to be exported, period. and with that said, lx is one car that's being exported to other regions big time. that's again why the resale on the car is so high because of the demand. it's not surprising that a dealership wants to make sure you aren't an exporter

I had the same issue at 2 different dealers when I was shopping.

The LX's are 1. low(er) in general production, 2. very popular in other countries and 3. can be very expensive in other countries.

If it was just about making money, U.S. dealers would mark them up, sell them for big $$ and ship their inventory overseas. However that not only undercuts the overseas dealers, but depletes inventory for U.S. customers.

So the Lexus coprorate office frowns on it...

Used cars are another story.
