LX570 recall as of February 24, 2011
Today, Toyota/Lexus announced a voluntary recall for 2008-2011 LX570 due to the gas pedal/mat problem.
Interestingly enough, my 2010 LX570 has the driver's mat permanently attached, it is sewed to the floor carpet.

I have looked closely at my 2010 and do not see how anything could interfere with my gas pedal.
I have to think that most of this Toyota/Lexus recall cr^p is due to our current administrations jealousy of Toyota/Lexus success! Anything to push the buyers to GM

This quite a knee-jerk reaction, though I guess that, once again, they are trying to protect themselves from litigation. This one bothers me, and there is no way I will allow the technicians to hack up my accelerator pedal (go look at some pictures of this in the ES350 forum), but the all-weather mat issue bothers me even more. Lexus won't supply them and won't give a date of when they will become available, yet they will recommend WeatherTech. It makes absolutely zero sense.

I am currently managing with WeatherTech floor liners, and they do not work well at all on the LX. The floor has a bit of a weird shape on the LX (too flat, if you will), and WeatherTech decided to design their liners with no lip along the door sill, so if you get a little slush on those liners, it comes right out and does quite a number on your door sill: the carpet is protected, which is wonderful, but I'm not sure it's good for all that corrosive slush to get on the sill (and into it through all the openings).

Lexus' all-weather mats do not cover to the sills. I personally prefer the WeatherTech's digital fit, they do cover to the sills (partially covering the chrome logo plate).

I definitely don't see this as WeatherTech's fault (though they could tweak the design to help address this) as much as it is the contour of the LX's floor that drove this design. My concern is that those sill plates are not water tight, so all this nasty stuff can get in there. A regular (and decent) all-weather mat would not cover the sill, but it should retain all slush (as would a WeatherTech digital fit liner with a raised lip all around).
Curious, did your dealer offer you the OEM Lexus all-weather mats? I am only wondering because I had not seen anything in a while, even though, as I was saying, I haven't checked since late last year.

I remember when Lexus wanted to install some resistor on my running lights on my LX470. I told them NO!
How someone could say the running lights were too bright always amazed me. This recall stuff can be stupid.
