Question Variable Height Suspension Problem

I have been having this strange thing happen only sporadically and without rhyme or reason......

Only sometimes when I come to a full stop I feel the car suspension lowering. Thought it was my imagination at first until I had other passengers in the car who felt it too. I think I had about 8000km on it when I first noticed the problem.

Had it checked out by Lexus and they could not find a cause for this....they did replace all 4 of the height sensors as a "shot in the dark" but warned me it may not fix the problem.....and it didn't. Now it seems like the lowering action is not as abrupt or dramatic but IT IS STILL THERE!

I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and would really appreciate any feedback you guys may have!

Why my 570 does this all the time. Most of the time you never know but when you stop at a light or bank drive in teller I can feel mine drop an inch or so every once in a while.

Even my LX470 did this. I can't believe that the Lexus dealer did not know this was normal. It does it all the time but the only way you can feel it is to be stopped.

same here. It surprises people that ride in the the 1st time...

lisa1838, see if you notice it when you are driving, then come to a stop on a slight incline (up or down).
I have a stoplight near my home that it happens every time there, it's an incline up just off the flat freeway.

Thanks for all the feedback....I feel better now that I know that this is "normal".
I will definitely have to mention this next time I am in for servicing....this was discussed with two different service advisors and not one of them mentioned that it could be the auto levelling action! Thanks guys!

I can not believe that the Lexus service people replaced all the height sensors when what you describe is normal and they should have known it was normal. Oh, well, they mean to please!

Default Auto levelling

I have the same problem and have had my LX570 through 3 dealerships and finally after the 4th time in the last dealership I am told that this is normal. All sensors have been replaced as well as the applicable computer TWICE...!! I have driven over 1800 kilometers specifically to have this situation remedied and as a result of advice and requests made by these Dealerships. Currently waiting on Lexus Canada to reply to my request for compensation. Fun...... NOT...!!!

If you would only have come to this forum first you could have saved all the trouble.

I never found it to be that big of a deal and never would have gone to the "lengths" you did to repair it!

Yes, it is normal however just a warning, my 2009 LX570 50K miles, the ride starts to get very hard even with the air suspension.

I'm finding this out. I have read my 570 owners manual cover to cover. I know way more than the service writers and techs about the 570. The 570 is an amazing piece of machinery ( Ugh Luxury SUV) By far my favorite Lexus out of 10 years of several Lexus vehicles.
