Default Tire Noise On LX570 & Best Replacement Tires

I have about 25K miles on my 2010 LX570 Dunlop Grandtrek Tires and I have considerable tire noise on one or two of the tires. What new tires should I buy and should I expect tire noise on my Lexus in the future. Not pleased with tire wear & noise @ 25K miles.

I agree. My First LX570 had the Dunlops and the Michelins were much more quiet.

My new LX570 came with the Michelins and I was quite happy.

^^^What they said...

I was dreading my LX not having Michelins, and that was the first thing I looked at when it rolled of the truck. They make a huge difference on noise, ride quality and handling, particularly in snow for those of us who are fortunate enough (sarcasm on - I hate snow!). The reviews on Tirerack tell quite a story.

Ditto with my GX six years ago. That one had Dunlops, and the dealer swapped them with Michelins from another truck.

Default Dunlop Tires

Picked up 2011 LX570 week ago. Traded 2001 LX470 in. Always had Michelins on my 470, and very happy with ride and quietness of tires.

New 570 came with Dunlops. Seem to have more road noise, and poorer ride quality than my 10 year old 570.

Dealer changing tires out Weds for the OEM Michelins.

Hopefully will notice improvement in ride and noise.

Will keep you posted.

Congratulations! I think you might be the first one here with a 2011.

Glad your dealer is swapping the tires out for you. I never owned an LX470, so I cannot say for sure if the 570 with the Michelins will be as quiet, but it will definitely be better than with the Dunlops.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Last week I traded my 09 LX for a 2011 LX. The 2011 came in with Dunlops, but I had dealer change for Michelin before I picked-up new truck. Had 29,000 miles on the 09 and the Michelins were excellant.

Had OEM Michelin's placed on 2011 LX today. Can clearly say they produce much less road noise than the Dunlops. The ride is also improved quality over the Dunlops. Glad I switched them out.

Hopefully they will wear as long as my old Michelins on LX470

LX570 STOCK TIRES SUCK!!!

I have 14,700 miles on my 2011 LX570. Was told by the dealer today that I would need new tires soon! WTF? I bought the car 13 months ago and I need new tires already? According to the dealer, the tread only has 30% remaining on the outer edges. The tires that are on there now are the Dunlop PT2A P285/50r20. I'm FURIOUS! I have had the car serviced only at my local Lexus dealership, and I noticed the tread wear after 3 months of driving it. I was told it was normal back then and not to worry.

I feel that Lexus sold me poor quality tires. Why would they do this? My old LX had Michelin's that lasted close to 50,000 miles. Do I have a possible warranty case here? New tires are close to $1,300!

Your new LX comes with the OEM tire warranty by the tire manufacturer. You should have a booklet explaining how the warranty works. Mine is in the glove box. If you can not find it, your dealer should be able to give you one.

Default Dunlop Tires on LX

I purchased the LX new with Dunlop Grandtrek tires, and thought that since they had produced very good motorcycle tires that there would be no problem, but I was wrong. All the previous Lexus models we have owned had OEM Michelins and except for the poor tread life on a couple of the RXs, we were very satisfied with the other qualities of these tires. At about 10K miles I began to notice a couple of the Dunlops seemed to be developing tread interface with road noise. I don't have the best hearing, so I mostly ignored the sound, but it just keeps getting louder and louder, especially if the vehicle is loaded. I wish that I had asked for an exchange to Michelin when I took delivery just as I had done with a GX we purchased in 2012. I never noticed any tire noise with that vehicle or the tires. I am having the Dunlops that have 18K mi. replaced tomorrow with Michelin Latitudes. I will report back in a few weeks after a trip to Colorado with the new tires to see how they perform and sound. Be wary of Dunlops on the LX

I now have driven the replacement Michelin Latitudes for over 2K mi and could not be more pleased. The handling is improved and noise is gone. I wish that I had asked for an exchange when I took delivery of the vehicle. I have no idea since the Dunlops are priced much higher than the Michelins why they would be selected for this application.
