Default What compenents do I need for spare set of tires/rims?

Hello,

I got an LX570 with the reg. 20 inch stock rims. I want to buy another set of chrome stock rims to be able to swap them back and forth. Can someone help me out with the equipment I need to purchase in order to be able to swap tires/rims without removing anything from the old set?

I know I need tire pressure monitors, where do I get them (besides Lexus dealer)? How do I make the car recognize them independently from my stock rims?

Is it a regular valve, or do I need to buy some special Lexus valve?

What other hardware do I need?

Any input please.
Thanks!

I am afraid you will only get the TPM at the Lexus dealer. I had one of mine destroyed when I went from the Dunlops to the Michelins and the dealer took two days to get the TPM and spent a good part of the day to get it recognised.

I purchased a 2nd set of rims, but returned the TPS sensors. I like the idea of being able to switch tires, but the LX does not have a switch that allows the TPS to monitor two sets of tires ( Summer and Winter ) Which means that if you want your 2nd set of tires to be monitored, You need to go to the dealer, have them wright down the TPS number for each sensor and then input that information into the LX computer so it will read the new set of tires. However when you do that, it erases the orginal set of TPS Sensors.

Every time you switch back to the first set, you need to once again, take down the tire, read the TPS printed number on the Sensor, have lexus input those numbers and again and in doing that you erase the winter driving sensors.

I run my winter tires without the TPS working and when I put on the summer tires the TPS sensors work. I elected to do this because of the expense of switching the tires back and forth, and the summer tires which usually are run at a higher speed than winter tires are probably more critical to know what your tire pressure is.

Hi Larry,
Are you disabling your TPS system? I know when I changed from Dunlops to Michelins and the killed on of the sensors, I got an sound alarm and message on the screen that I had low tire pressure. It was anoying until Lexus replaced the sensor a few day later

There is no way to disable the TPS module. Fortunately it is not a audio alarm, just a blinking alarm. The alarm goes away if something else is activated, like door open. I just got used to haveing the visual alarm in the winter and when I put on my summer tires, the alarm goes away. I would guess that the 2010 modles will have a dual tire mode like some of the other cars do.

Hmmm, I could swear when I was going down the highway and my 570 could not locate the broken sensor, it gave both visual and audio alarm. It did go away but it was a pain in the butt to listen too before it did.

I think mine did alarm the first time it could not find any of the tires, but after that is just visual alarm. So far this winter there has been no audio alarms on the winter tires without the sensors.
