Default 570 Dunlop Tire Experience and Recommendations

I have a 570 that now has just over 15,000 miles on it with Dunlop tires (factory originals). It is now due for its annual inspection and the tires will not pass (I looked at them and they are indeed worn). This seems like unusually fast wear for a set of tires - no? Has anyone identified a brand of tire that gives a reasonably comfortable ride with better wear for the 570? What do the new Land Cruisers use?

Thanks

There are not alot of choices for tires for the LX570. I replaced my Dunlops after deleivery for the Michelins and have been very happy. They ave 19k on them and look like they will get that much again. They handle good on Florida's snowless roads and get good traction in wet conditions. I will buy the same again!

15k is not alot for OEM tires, I would sure not buy them again!

Thanks. Did your Lexus dealer know which type of Michelin to select or did you ask for a particular version of that brand of tire?

They offered only one Michelin model. It is the same as comes on "some" of the Lx570 units from the factory.

They are Michelin Latitude Tour HP
P285x50xR20

You can find them a little cheaper at places other than the Lexus dealer but if you do warn them tire place about the tire pressure monitors! For the cost difference, I will go with Lexus to both supply and install. They will toss in nitrogen if it matters to you.

I cannot believe Toyota put Dunlop on both of your Lexus 570's.

All the Lx570 here in Canada come stock with Michelin Lattitude.

What do the new Land Cruisers use?
Land Cruiser use Grantrek but the rim size is only 18 inch.

Mind if I ask you what you paid per tire?

At Dunlop.com they want $373.50 per tire.

I do not remember the price but I did not get mine from Lexus and save about $200 on the set of 4 with a 3rd party tire dealer but all saving plus another $100 was lost with me having Lexus replace the tire pressure sensor that the 3rd party tire company destroyed when changing tires.

To save the trouble, I will go with Lexus on not only getting the tires but installing them. From the looks I should get between 30-40k before I replace. I will likely do it sooner than later as I do not like the feel that any tire give me when it is getting close to the end of it's life.

Before you make a hard choice, shop around and then call your dealer and see if they will meet the price for your tires, out the door. My neighbor did and the dealer actually dropped the price to meet the other seller.

It is always not cheaper at the dealer.

I would rather go to Dunlop directly... Fresher tires and save some money too.

I tried going to the Michelin website where you can have the tires sent to your local Michelin dealer, but the saving was small. BJs had the best price I could find in Jacksonville, but I would never let them mount them.

The Michelins are on and are working great - cornering and handling are also definitely an improvement over the dunlops - thanks

Glad you like them, I was impressed with handling, too. They also seemed to feel more stable at high speeds to me, the Dunlops seemed to wander a little but new rubber always feels good.

Hope you enjoy.
