570 will have been in the shop almost 2 weeks. The insured insurance company has been a little difficult saying they wouldnt pay for my rental car because it wasnt similar to the 570 (as an SUV) as I got a Caddy DTS. The rental car place had no SUV's that day and I dont care so much what I would be driving.
I did let them know that I fould a place to rent a Range Rover for about $230 a day and we could go ahead and get that as it is similar.....they said it was OK to keep the DTS and they would pay for that..

OUCH! That hood dent looks painfull! After seeing it I hope you realise how lucky this did not go thru the windshield!

Though it has been said before, glad the LX570 protected the valuble contents and all were safe!

When I review the pictures and see how the piece of wood impacted the glass, I am very surprised how little damage it really did to the glass. I have no idea of the impact speed.
The separation of glass layers (or lamination, or whatever) on the windshield was very evident but it almost looked as if it was 2-3 layers of glass.
I continue to be amazed at every aspect of this car.

My guess is that the large flat surface of the wood hit the windshield first, decreasing the severity of the impact by spreading it over a large area. Had the edge or corner of the wood impacted the glass first, it probably would have gone right through it.

P.S. Love the pic of your vette's interior! beautiful color!

Ouch, the windshields aren't cheap, I had to get mine replaced on my GS430, one from the Lexus dealer was around $1k (double plated with some coating on it) is what they told me for the outrageous price.

HAd an aunt and uncle killed in Wisconsin many years ago. They were going about 70mph at night and a LARGE deer ran in front of them. The deer went thru the front windshield and out the back window, killing them both instantly!

got the 570 back today. 2 weeks later and its great to have back!!!
I forgot the amount of power that the car has so it feels like getting a new one all over again!!!!
Almost $6000 was the total bill (plus another $1000 for the rental car)
Guy should've tied his load down properly..

In Washington you can get fined pretty heavily for not having everything secured properly.

Oh, in California it's not too bad. It was much worse for me that for the other guy.
I fought with Safeco about the amount they were paying, the shop it was going to, the rental car. etc.

You have to love insurance don't you?

You pay premiums for years and then when you need the coverage, they nickle and dime you on everything. It's such a bloody racket.

My agent was asleep at the wheel for the entire thing. ZZzzzzz.......
I handled it my way and it got done right, just a little arm twisting to Safeco to get them to lay off being cheapskates.
All my wife did was get crashed into...
