got mine in December, no HID! Whatever they are, they allow me to see really well in the dark...headlights and foglights seem much brighter than my '05 was.

Late response, but i'm talking about the 04-06 LS430. The previous 01-03 had HID, but they were reflector based. The later ones are projector-based.

official line is that under stressfull conditions (shaking while constantly driving over bad roads), HIDs are still not reliable enough... So no HIDs for Toyota/Lexus SUV's.

I am not sure that i could believe this reason...because both the Range Rover and G500/55 have HIDS. I would have believed that Lexus/Toyota believe that HIDS in high SUVs are too high. The above reason is bogus IMHO because other equally (or more) off-road capable vehicles have HIDS.

It's indeed a lame reason because HID technology has been out for over 10 years. You would think they would be perfected by now.. Most LX end up being on smooth pavements anyways.

It is very interesting that LEXUS USA misadvertises its product. Quite unusual for such brand. I am going to give them a call tomorrow to find out. Since this is a deal braker for me. I do not want to install an aftermarket kit into a $70+ SUV. Seems wrong to me.

Wow, that's a pretty big mistake. FWIW, I do hope HIDs do eventually become available on the LX570s.

So what's the RX classified as? Station wagon? Poser-mobile?

according to tigmd99, lexus cant make mistake in advertising materials, so they must be right :-).

----

Yeah, thats official line for all of the Toyota/Lexus suvs, and has been forever... RX is really for urban driving :-).

Honestly, I am tired of stuff breaking, so if thats the case I am fine with it. And Range Rovers are not really known for their dependability :-).

It might be lame but when driving a car and an escalade comes behind you, well its HUGELY annoying. Then we have people slapping HID kits in trucks/SUVS clearly not designed for HID and the pattern goes everywhere.

Maybe they are going to go LED based in the future, like the LS 600h L?

Maybe it will be added the next model year?

It is kind of surprising the new LX doesn't have it.

hey um... i am not sure.. but other brands that dont offer HID have xenons... so i guess that if HID's dont work well on full size SUV's, then offer them in Xenons??? or is it too expansive?

HID = Xenon.

I doubt the price is the issue with LX570 which has more equipment than LS460 :-).

You do have to consider that probably more than >80% of LC200/LX570's were destined for non-western countries where roads are harsh, all the time. Only Russian and Eastern European sales should be larger than both NA and Western-Europe combined, even though LC200 here comes only fully equipped.

Lexus isn't really helping the situation, is it?
