2004 LX470 Radio Replacement
The original radio / mini disc player in my 2004 Lexus LX470 is long defunct and, because of this, the previous vehicle owner has installed an aftermarket unit within the central storage box (between the front seats). This works fine, but is obviously difficult (and dangerous!) to operate whilst driving, and I now want to relocate this unit so it fits in place of the original radio / mini CD player. See attached picture.
I have removed the entire assembly containing the sat nav, radio / mini-disc player, AC controls etc and, as far as I can see, it should be possible to install this unit in place of the existing without affecting the AC controls or anything else. I would also not intend to tie into any of the existing wires in this area, but would simply extend the wires from the unit currently in the storage box.
I am reasonably handy at DIY and believe that I could make this work, but I am wondering if anybody makes some sort of blanking plate which will neatly fill the slot removed by the existing unit. I would then cut this to suit the new radio / CD. I could knock something up myself, but want to make this installation as neat as possible.
Have searched the internet and all the threads I could find here without any success so far, so any advice would be very much appreciated!!
