2000 lx470 should I buy this one?
I am new to lx470, I currently have a ls400 and loved it.
I found a 2000 lx470 with 76k original carfax proven mileage and original owner.
He even showed me the original window sticker that he paid 63k out the door back in 2000.
I have already made the deal and ready to pay him tomorrow.
He is asking for 15k. I think it is a very good price.
He has service record for the following item:
replaced antenna
replaced radio twice
replaced cup holder
replaced cv boot
replaced coil
replaced brake and rotors 3 times
30k miles service at lexus dealers
replaced window motor driver and passenger side
replaced axle
repainted front bumper due to dealer scratched it when it was in for maintenance
things need:
ahcs oil have never been done
timing belt
Everything works in the car including the ahcs , I lowered the car and raised the car and it works.
I check everyting, radiator and everything is original.

That is a strange combination of repairs for a vehicle with 76K miles on it. Especially the brakes. I'm at 150K and only recently replaced the rear brakes for the 2nd time. Window motor? Axle? I've yet to mess with any of that.
Timing belt is 90K but since its a 2000 it should be done based on age. It's about 1200 at the dealer with a water pump. It's about $300 in parts and a weekend job if you do it yourself.
AHU is a $50 can of AHU fluid from LEXUS, a hand suction unit to draw the oil out of the reservoir and about 30 minutes if you do it yourself. Dealer will charge you around $200-$300 for the service

CV boot and axle repair sound a bit surprising. Perhaps a bit of off roading damage or? have you had your mechanic take a look at the repair? And yes 3 sets of brakes sound very surprising. When you drive it do the brakes feel smooth without vibration? If there is any need to replace the front rotors its big $ since the front wheel bearings will need to be removed.
I have a 2000 LX 470 and mine has 120K miles on it. the CV boots have not been replaced

Dealers love to recommend brake jobs. They make some serious cash on them and most people get scared with they're told your brakes are at 10% - they think they're being safe bc after all it's the breaks, and don't realize that when they need replacement there are indications that let you know, so they authorize the work w/o much thought. I've been offered two break jobs in the last 6 months and have declined on both occasions. Still waiting for the wear indicator to surface and driven over 5k on my lx and about 7k on my ls.

Purchasing LX470 - read this
I may be a little late to the party here .... but
DO NO BUY a LEXUS LX 470 ...
I now know why the Landcruisers of equal year and mileage run several thousand more in price...
MY 2000 Lexus LX 470
I was 3rd owner
#1 Dr, in Fremont Ca
#2 Engineer in Tracy Ca ... owned car 1 year drove it for 3500 miles ... i had the registration to prove that
#3 me ... purchased it w/ 115000 miles on it
Did the Timing Belt and full tune up
Changed Brakes and Tires
3 months into ownership .... CD player broke (lexus nakamichi crap)
1 year later .... Suspension dies .... $3500 OUCH ( 127000 miles )
Few months after that ... very strange electrical issues - cause was an improperly installed Windscreen ( a common issue w. replacement people... $900 for a factory installed Windscreen OUCH what happens is the window leaks and water gets into the connectors under the dash .... genius )
at this point I am into 15k For the Cat ( in 2012)
$900 Windscreen
$1600 Timing belt change
$3500 Suspension repair
CD and Tape doesn't work , right speakers don't work
Door solenoids don't operate in Summer Heat
AC Control buttons don't work in Cold Weather
Now .. 2016 .. Suspension out again .... thought it was shocks $300 each ... I did the fronts
Bled the AHC w/ $48 per 2l Fluid
No help ...
This vehicle is crap ... get a 1985 Toyota Pickup
I actually bought this over a 2004 Range Rover w/ 85000 miles on it.... Guy at Stewarts in Sac talked me out of the Range Rover because of the Air suspension....
I feel like a sucker.....

I bought A 2000 LX470 for 10k with 168k miles ....I love no major problems except:
1. Replaced ignition switch. shaft $189.00
2. Rear Caliper ( my fault..ran the pads down to the rotors) $35.00
3. Brake pads Front and rear $45.00
4. New front tires (got a great deal) $300.00
that's it not bad considering the year of my LX 470.
