2007 LX470 Pricing
How's it going everyone, hoping to get some input. I haven't been on the forum since I sold my GS460 a year ago and now looking in to a Lexus SUV.
I found a 2007 LX470 at a California lexus dealer with 123,000 miles. I like the body style of this model. It had 2 previous owners. I haven't checked it out in person yet since it is a 125 miles to the dealer, but photos look good and I like the color combo. I've been looking for a land cruiser as well same year, but no such luck, at least not in California.
I checked the Lexus service records and from what I can see all service was was done according to recommended maintenance intervals, timing belt including water pump and tensioner, adjustable height fluids, spark plugs, brake fluid, power steering fluid, differential fulids all changed according to service records.
Dealer is asking $30,900, which is about $1200 less than what NADA, KBB, and Edmund retail values. I would try to get them down further on price.
I know there are much lower priced LX470's out there but they have much higher mileage and service history is iffy especially with TB and fluid changes. I've also found some with lower mile ones but as expected much higher prices. I found an 05 with 50k miles, asking price is $46k, and very limited service records.
Thanks!

As you know, this is the last year of the LX470 which also has the updated grill, lights, and more importantly vvt-i therefore will command a higher price tag than pre-06 models, especially if it is in black. I do think this is slightly high in price, but paying around $27k i would be happy since i see ones with anywhere from 70-100k miles sell for around $35k

VVTI means a horsepower bump from 235 to 275. Black, especially on LX70s, tends to command a high price tag than say the light blue and seafoam green colors , and in the case of the older ones, the golds and greens. I was talking to my dealer back when we wanted to trade our 2001 LX in on a 2006, they told me that the black ones were always the first to go, and that when selling used, many people were willing to pay 1-2k more for black than they were for say white or silver. This may come down to personal preference, but that was the case with the 3 lexus dealers and 2 independant dealers that i had called looking for a 2006.

I may just take the drive and if i really like it, consider offering them $2k/$3k below their asking. I don't think they would consider a $22k offer, but I guess I lose nothing in asking.
This is 2007 for $30,900, that I like. I checked the service history in the lexus.com site and very well maintained.

I was mistaken about this one. Its an 07 not 05 as i thought. They want $46k, but for this price I might as well look at an 08/09. I do prefer the 07 and older body style over the newer style.

I also found an 05 Land Cruiser at a Vegas Ford Dealer, 55k miles, one owner, asking $30k. I checked the toyota site for service history and it wasn't well documented as being a well maintained SUV. I think this is the same LC i sawe a few weeks ago for sale at a Vegas Lexus dealer, so it looks like its gone from Lexus dealer to Ford , but I could be wrong.

When you were looking and asking this question about color, were you looking for a "Black" one? Also I've driven both and you can't feel the HP increase and the VVT-I adds complexity and members have had more problems with the VVT-I. Do a search you will see the problems. Not huge but more.

No i was looking for a silver one, but the dealers always had the black ones priced higher, and i asked them why. This is in line with what ive heard at auctions as well. Look at any lexus/ mercedes/ bmw and look at similiar cars with miles and options, the black ones almost always sell for more. As to VVT-I, the average buyer will see it as a benefit. In general, the 06-07s command a quite a bit more than the 05s and older. Dont need to take my word for it, just look at the ones for sale

Guess I got a great deal. Only problem with buying any used vehicle with miles on it you need to baseline the vehicle. If it was serviced by a Lexus dealer you need to check the service records and when they say they did the 30/60/90k service you need to find out what that really means?? Did they repack the wheel bearings or was that not included? Did they change the diff's but not the transfer case fluid? Etc. etc. Any 100 series that was maintained will run 400k+ miles so what is the benefit of buying one under 100k miles. I would look for a 2003 or newer with 100k - 130k for close to $20k good service records and NO RUST!!! Then baseline it and enjoy your new ride for the next 300-400k miles. You can then use the $10k you just saved over these $30k plus rigs to baseline and maintain your new 100 series for the next 15 years.

yeah, this is why I decided to ask forum members their input on this. Its hard to pay this kind of money for something with over 100k miles, or even the 07 with 1/2 those miles.
