Considering 02 LX470
As you can see, I've been a member of the forum for a bunch of years. My wife is on her 5th or 6th LS (can't remember exactly - I'm sure I've done a dozen or more timing belt/water pump changes).
Anyway, I've never owned a 470. I've always had the Z71 or FFRR. I'm looking at an 02 with 130k, second owner, maintenance records.
Basic question is, anything I ought to specifically look at on an '02 LX?
Second question is in regards to towing. There is no hitch and I've read the threads that list different options. It's not clear but it appears all of the 470s have the tow harness (is this correct?).
Third, is there any place to get the full set of manuals in pdf for free or inexpensive? This is not a problem with the Rover.

I have an 03 & the only minor complaint I have is it could use just a tab bit of power. But it has good low end torque. Other than that it's 1 of the smoothest & quietest suv's on the planet. Great highway cruiser. Excellent in snow & ice. Far as the hitch, most of these trucks come with hitches. It'll have a small covering in the middle of the bumper. Just pop it off. Don't know about the manual. From 98 to 07 they the same truck far as exterior, but the 03 & up got interior upgrades & more power? Did you try eBay to see what they have?

For Toyota manuals you can pay a small fee for a couple days to download the repair manual, owners manual, Auto Trans manual, technical training materials, service bulletins, etc.

The 02 is a great vehicle and only 130K with maintenance records is especially nice. Most came with tow bars, but you can get one from Lexus, Toyota, or after market. I am not certain about the tow harness, mine always had a hitch. The 4.7L is smooth with deceivingly powerful torque. The 03 model introduced a 5 spd to take better advantage of the torque, variable ratio steering, and added about 5 HP. The 03-05 models had an integrated tow bar in the bumper, but it was rated lower at 5K vs 6.5K lbs. For 06, the regular tow bar returned.

Thanks, LXPearl. I'm also looking at a 2000 with 90k on it. From what I can tell, the 02 and 00 are effectively the same (right?). This one already has the tow hitch, but is a three owner with no records.
None of these have the Nav. This doesn't bother me too much because my wife's LS430's Nav is not that good and we use the iphones mostly. However, I do like my iHeartRadio, Pandora and Bluetooth hands-free telephone. How difficult is it to add this to the standard system?
