Default 2006 LX470 InVision Rear Dvd Problem

I have a 2006 Lexus LX470 with Dual Aftermarket Invision REV2 Monitors in the Headrests. These are the kind that load from the top. I believe they were added on by a Lexus dealer as all of the paperwork is in the Owners Manual pertaining to the monitors. Recently, the Driver's Headrest Monitor stopped receiving power. Passenger side monitor powers up and works normally.

I have checked the 6-pin power supply cable coming from the monitor down the seat back and under the seat where the power and signal suppply plug into each other. They were connected snugly, i pulled them apart anyway, cleaned and put them back. I followed the cables under the center front console to the underneath of the passenger seat where the A/V Control Box is located. I removed the A/V control box and checked all connections and wires. (I did everything but swap the signal cables from monitor A to monitor B to check to see if I could get power to the non-functioning monitor)

Everything seems tight and snug and I followed the wiring diagram Has anyone else had this issue? It wouldn't be a fuse as both monitors would be out (since they share a Control Box) Could a monitor just have "died" or is it possible that the Control Box is failing causing just one to work? The blue light no longer illuminates on this monitor. It is getting 0 power.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated! I contacted Lexus last week but they don't seem very interested in messing with these systems and i'll be damned if I let a place like Car-Toys touch my truck!

Took the truck to Sewell Lexus this morning and dropped it off. They called and said an electrical short had caused the driver's headrest monitor and control board to fail. Total cost to replace all components including both monitors and control board is $3300. Sewell is replacing the components at no cost to me since I bought the truck 1 week ago and they include a 30-day bumper to bumper warranty.

I'm very glad they are replacing everything, however, $3300??? I found the monitors new on Ebay for $600 a pair + $500 give or take for the control board. Basically a plug and play 30 minute install unless they intend on replacing every single wire (which they are)

The cause of the electrical short was a piece of aluminum tape that was placed on the 6-pin power supply.

Lexus used their subcontracted A/V specialist to replace the DVD system. They ended up replacing the entire system including all wires, control board, both monitors etc... This involved removing both front seats and the center console (as the wires run into and up under the console). I was very concerned about the possibility of squeaks/rattles post repair but have had no issues. I looked into the 1st owner's service records and found that the Invision DVD system had been previously replaced by a different Lexus dealership several years ago, so now it is on DVD system #2 @ 75K. Neither myself nor the original owner has young children and as such the system is never used.

If I had to of paid for it out of pocket, I would have replaced the control board and the left headrest monitor and called it good. Hopefully yours won't need such an extensive repair.

Be sure and check the 6-pin connectors on the bottom of the seat backs and check the control box under the passenger seat.
