Default 01 LX470 Ignition Switch Lock Problem

Although I just joined the forum, I have used the "search" feature and read everything I can find related to this topic in advance... still don't really see any conclusive answer that fits my situation exactly so I thought I would begin by asking for veteran member's advice. So thank you in advance for reading.

First, teenage son pulled key out in ACC position.. not a usual driver of this vehicle and so there you go...

Second, key will go back in, but will not turn either direction.... and YES key will work in doors, etc to lock unlock.. YES I have tried other key with same problem.

Third, I have confirmed that the steering wheel lock is not the problem... and YES I have disconnected the battery to see if that might "reset" something.

Here is where I am... I have talked to local locksmith who says YES I can fix it IF we find the ignition lock cylinder somewhere...I will key it to match your keys and remove install for $225-$300....

My search for this part turns up Standard Motor Products US391L as the appropriate part and cheapest I see it anywhere is on ebay for about $362....

I called Dealer parts to ask what their part costs, and the parts guy tells me .. You don't need that, you only need the " upper steering bracket" and 2 screws.... bracket is $201.68 and screws are $5.21 each.

I am thoroughly confused by Dealer Parts guy's remark.. about something called an "upper steering bracket"... he tried to explain that it was only the sleeve that the parts fit in...and not the entire ignition lock itself to blame for my problem...

Given that I have ruled out all the more obvious solutions , can anyone give me more insight / understanding into the proper terminology here so that I can understand what I need.... I would prefer to order a part and have local locksmith do the work (cheaper) than to involve the dealer..Pricey ...

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or insight.

Default Pics of Parts ?

These are photos of the Ignition Lock by Standard Motor Products Part # US391L

That I believe is the correct part ? but still don't understand the dealer was talking about the "upper bracket" as opposed to the entire piece ?

Thanks for any advice
