Default 1997 Lexus 450 2x4??

Hi everyone,
I'm Nguyen, new to this forum, I'm just looking for some insights regarding a prospective purchase.
I just saw a very nice looking 1997 Lexus 450, but the add stated that it's a 2x4 and not a 4x4. It used to be a 4x4 but the previous owner converted to 2x4 to be more fuel efficient. The current owner does not know its' mpg though, so I don't even know if it saves any gas, but he stated it gets about 300 miles a tank.

What I'm interested in is a 4x4, I want to lift it and build it up to go into the mountains and desert. How much would it cost to make it a 4x4 again? What if the old owner left the axels on and only disengaged the transfer case?

I do not know much about trucks, if I go see it, what do I need to look for as far as parts to make a 4x4? There are no pictures of the bottom of the truck, but there is a link to his ad below.

Thanks in advance,
Nguyen

I think you can get a stock lx450 for that price/mileage and have a more reliable 4x4 vehicle.

It's likely the conversion removed the front drive shaft and the front hub drive flanges have been machined or replaced. 1000-1500 in parts to convert back plus labor.
