Default Wood cracking on 2001 steering wheel

Anoyone have any issues with the wood cracking on their steering wheels? The wheel on my '01 is cracking throughout the top section of the wheel, and a few pieces of the wood has even flaked off. I'm wondering if this is a common issue and if anyone has had experience repairing or replacing the wheel. I know my truck is now 12 years old, but I've never had issues with wood trim on other vehicles of similar age.

Yes. My 2000 has a lot of surface cracks on the top of the wheel. Don't know what to do about it except look for a used replacement somewhere. I figure it s from the sun hitting the top of the wheel.

Lexus sells them for about $3,000, but you can get one online from Sewell with your CL account for $1,680.

That DIY was nice...if only I was so talented and had that much time. I wonder if there are any places near Seattle that can do that kind of work?
