My New LX450 - Is this 4WD Diff Lock??
Hi,
I am really new to the LX450...purchased 1 month ago with 125k miles. I notice this 'Stick Shift' next to the Automatic stick shift. It has High/New/Low. There are 2 buttons next to it. One button is 'Pwr' and the other is '2nd'.
Can someone please tell me that is the function of the stick shift and the buttons? The previous owner does not have the manual so I am glueless. I am attaching a picture of it.
Thanks

Diff lock should be a button on the dash. Your picture is the Transfer Case Shifter and the transmission mode buttons. You should be driving in HIGH most of the time, but if you want to shift into LOW, put the truck in Neutral and then move the Transfer Case lever to the LOW position.
BTW, if you register your vehicle on the Lexus website, you can get an owners manual for free...or at least they used to offer them a while back.

LOW range is for off-road driving. Will multiply your final ratio by 2.7:1 wich mean youl will drive 2.7 time slower while applyging 2.7 time more torq to the wheel using the same transmission speed and engive rev. Usuful when you have to crawl over big rocks, steep climb or to help braking in steed descent. As said before you have to shift from H to L and from L to H when the vehicule is not moving and the transmission at neutral point. In addition, you'll have to be in 4WD (center diff lock) to use low range gear.
PWR is the «sport mode» of the transmission. Tigther shift at higher rev. Will decrease the MPG but should increase your driving fun...
2nd allow you to start in 2nd gear. Usuful in slippery condition where the 1st gear would apply to much torq on the wheels and cause slippage. Use it whenever it's snowy, sandy or muddy and that your are not pulling a 8500pound trailer...
