Just bought a near perfect 06 LX470, with jacked up chrome grill...
Hey everybody, new here and new to Lexus.
I just bought a great condition 2006 LX470, very low miles 29K. Love the truck, it's great shape inside and out.
EXCEPT: There is some discoloration of all of the chrome parts: front gill, back license plate frame, the rear badges. This appears to be some sort of corrosion.
The paint is perfect, no rust. The car is originally from CO, and it appears that the chrome discoloration is from a liquid de-icer they use on the roads up there.
The dealer I purchased it from tried everything to recondition the chrome, and now so did my local Lexus dealer...looks like I need to replace all the chrome parts if I want to solve this....and my jaw dropped when I was quoted $2000 for all....the labor was only a small part of that, the cost is mostly the parts apparently.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Any suggestions where I can get these parts, including the grill, front badge etc etc for a more reasonable price?
Thanks y'all....

Welcome! If you register on the Sewell Lexus parts website ( www.sewellparts.com ) as a ClubLexus member, you will get a discount. You can also call Darrell at their parts department if you have questions.
A number of members here consider chrome to be a curse, almost as bad a gold badges, and they will likely advise you on alternatives.
