Default Two HID questions

I have a 2006 LX470 and I want to install HID's from Xenondepot.

1. Do I need to have the dealer turn off my daytime running lights before I install the HIDs in the low beam projectors?

2. What do the people who have installed HID low beams do about the high beam lights?

Thanks!

Your vehicle uses the high beam bulb for the DRL so upgrading the low beams to HID is not an issue.

High beams - A lot of our customers upgrade their stock bulbs with our Putco halogen bulbs if they want to try and better color match their high beam bulb.

No you dont its a simple DIY installation just watch a few videos. The lows and highs/drls are seperate so im probably just going to get tinted bulbs just to match my HID 6k's and if it looks bad then i might just turn off my DRLs.

I agree with Xenon Depot. should be no issue, I have used another HID product which work well. I do plan to change to high beam bulbs but have not yet done so.

I have the xenondepot hids in my 06. Left the DRL and high beam stock. Only minor issue was the H1 connector plug was slightly too big to fit the factory harness, need to trim it slightly.
Connector show here:

Love the HIDs though, they should come from the factory with them.

Glad you're happy with them :-) **Update** We now use a different connector with our H1 HID kits so no trimming is necessary.

How do you guys aim the lights? I have just installed HID's and they are pretty decent, but i think they are pointed down

no issue to aim the lights if the pin and notch are correct. Just use the factory adjustment

Factory adjustment aims the light too low IMO

daytime running lights are fine unchanged from the factory. Why would you want to change?

as far as high beams you can replace with Xenon bulbs, 9005 with right angle connector, if you want to closer match the color of the HID lights. YOu can get the 9005s with 4300K, 6000K. the HID can be multiple colors. 4300 is typical for many factory HID systems.

Definitely go with 4300k for the brightest and most functional light output.

@ Drewdogg80,

How easy was the install for the H1's? I hit some snaggs fitting the bulbs into the headlight housing assembly. Seemed to be too big for the opening. So as to not hi-jack this thread, check out my post that's listed in the forum just before this thread. Subject is: "issue installing HID kit" or something similar.
