99 LX470 limited slip?
Several reviews I've looked at state that the 99 models had a limited slip center *AND* rear limited slip differentials, in addition to the ability to lock the center one manually.
Can anyone confirm this? I read somewhere on this forum that the LX had an open rear diff. 2000+ models had ATRAC which would reduce or eliminate the need for an LSD at the rear, so for those models it isn't an issue.
Its hard to imagine that they'd put out a vehicle with a totally open rear differential, especially one in something with Land Cruiser heritage. Even with the center locked, you'd effectively have only 2 wheels positively driven on surfaces with uneven traction.
I can understand removing the rear LSD with ATRAC in later models.
