Does anyone know how to change a burned out running board courtesy light (rear-left)?

I looked under. There are small lenses that shine down on the road when the courtesy lights are on. There is no obviouse way to get inside the light strip area.

KingRJ, do you know how much does it cost to get the light from the dealer? I need to change one of mine too.

I believe there is only one source that feeds the light strip and the down looking lens. I took the lens housing apart hoping that would lead to the bulb, but it seems like the lens is on the end of some kind of light transmition rod (fiber optic, maybe).

I was under the impression that there were 3 lights, in a fiberoptic strip; one at each end, and one in the center.

From the diagram in the FSM, each light strip (there are 2 per side) is a bulb in itself. Then there are 2 of the look down lights underneath the boards for each side. The light strip fits into some kind of retainer. There are these square-shaped things on the end of each strip that attach (looks like via clips/pins) to the retainer. I'm not sure how to remove the retainer, meaning I don't know if you have to remove the board from the bracket or not. There are 4 support brackets for each board (held on by 2 bolts per bracket). On those of that is a metal support board, then the main board you see from the outside, then the rubber part w/ the Lexus emblem attaches to that. It's not clear how the lights fit in. I would look from the bottom inside to see if the light retainer can be removed. Those bulbs aren't cheap. Wasn't there someone on this board who recently got a dealer quote in the hundreds of $$ to replace a single light?

Thanks for the info Jim. Are you saying that the light strip and look-down light are seperate? If that is the case, I probably have a problem with the electrical connector. Does the FSM have the wiring diagram showing were the connector resides and which wires power the rear right lights?

Thanks

I'd have to check the 500+ pg factory electrical manual if the same wire feeds both the bar light and look down light is just splits. The running boards are shown in the body section in the vol 2 manual, but nothing electical. That's why they publish the electrical manual. In all, there are close to 2000 pages for the 3 manuals!

OK, I checked the FSM. The power wire on the left side exits the left kick panel area below A pillar (IIRC, red w/ blue stripe), then goes to a connector then feeds all four lights for the left side running board (2 bar lights, 2 down lights).
