Default Ipod for the LX 470

What is the most user friendly way to incorporate an IPOD into a new LX 470? Is there a mod out there?

Hi Perry -

The link shows the Land Cruiser but not the LX470. I'm guessing that the ML stereo in the Lexus is different that the JBL in the Toyota LC so would this interface still work?

Lexus dealers carry a adapter but it has a lot of wires to deal with and it is a waist. I'll start looking I need one to.

Default Ipod Installed by Vaistech Adapter to ML

I installed the iPod with my 2004 LX470 with Mark Levinson by the adapter from Vaistech. It works perfect and installation took about 45 mins and very easy. Now the ipod is directly connected to the touch screen and audio amp and you can read the playlist names and tracks and controls via the steering wheel. The touch screen sees the ipod as a MD Changer and the playlist of ipod are seen as discs. You can have up to 99 playlist with unlimited songs on each playlist. Sound clarity is 100%. Email me if you guys have more questions. snkpkp@yahoo.com

I would just use a cassette adapter. It's simple and cheap.

True but in my experience (both our RX300 and NSX) the sound quality isn't all that hot.

I agree it's not optimal. Really the best thing to do is to leave the iPod at home and burn Audio DVD's of your music and put them in the DVD Changer.

I appreciate the feedback here. I am glad to hear the install was easy. Do you have much experience along these lines or are you pretty helpless like me? Where do you put your ipod and does the ipod hookup to the earphone jack or line in?

Thanks,

Default Directions to open LX Audio Head Unit

First Remove the Wood facia sorrounding the audio
control unit, its based on 8 clips so use a blunt clip
or taped flat screw driver so that you dont scratch
the wood oopps i mean plastic looking like wood thing.
Then you will have to remove the center air vents
based on three clips eachl After that unscrew 4 screws
which holds the audio unit and the navi screen.
Remember to put the shifter to "L" so you can pull out
the audio/video unit. When you look at the back you
will see the similar cable in the bottom then just
follow the instructions. Make sure you do every thing
as the manual says. Set your ipod according to the
manual, such as turn on check sound, turn off
equilizer, make sure all your play list has songs
including ON the go. Let me know if you need any more
support.
