Default Are all late model LX California emission certified ?

Hi: I am buying a 2003 LX470 out of state, and wondering if this truck is California certified. I called Lexus Customer Service, and they don't know. The dealer I am buying it from says it is California certified, but provides me no proof in print/picture of the sticker that says so.

Question:

Does anyone know if all late model LX470s shipped to the US are 50-state certified ? Or if there are still Lexus cars/trucks produced 2003 or later that may not be certified for California ?

Thanks... Really important for me to know as it could affect my purchase decision on the truck.

Why won't they verify this for you? If it is 50 State emissions certified it should have a sticker. As far as the car, I do believe all after a certain year are certified.

This may help...

Thanks. From digging around more, it appears that all 2002 and beyond LX470 meet California's emission standard, by default. So I should rest easy for my 2003.

It's been 50 state emissions compliant since the late 90s.

Are you sure of that ? I dunno if the LX has been that certified for CA since the '90s. My search showed the 200X and higher. Maybe u r right... I'll be glad when my truck arrives and I can get it registered here in So Cal. Cannot wait...

Check the sticker on the drivers door..."U.S." certified means 50 states.

The LX 450 arrived on 1996. It was 50 state complaint. Both my 1997 LX 450s are 50 state compliant. I seriously doubt Toyota would've gone backwards starting in 1998.

Thanks. Really appreciated.... Still waiting for my LX to arrive... Something about the shipper having driver trouble and cars pilling up waiting to be shipped from TX to CA. Arghhhhhhhhhh !

I sure do hope they're not drying it out !! In the next year, folks will be giving good deals on hurricane flooded vehicles. Check for fine mud in or on the chassis... Very best of luck !

The car was titled and used in TX since 09/03. SIngle owner... No chance it was ever in the LA hurricane. But not a bad idea... The truck arrives to my home this weekend, I'll sure be checking with a toothcomb

The truck arrived today, and what a beauty !!! First thing I checked is the sticker under the hood. It is CA certified for emmission. Goodie.... Going to DMV this week to get it registered.... As to first impressions, the car is gorgeous, rides like a dream, and looks like a million bucks....

BTW, I got a nice surprise. Turned out the previous owner installed XM Sat Radio, and the connection and holder for the unit is still in the car. Goodie.... Gotta get an XM head unit and the fun will only get better from here.

The sad part is the truck is my wife's, to keep her from constantly driving my LS. I may have to trade my LS for her LX. That truck is super nice and just oozes quality all over... Great truck. Looking forward to many years of ownership
