Apparently there are 2 "red" tail lights on each side of the LX (i.e. total of 4). The left side bulb which is in the pillar is fine but the one which is in the trunk cover (left side) is gone out.

Is it easy to replace this for DIY and any directions?

Yes it is a diy. Just remove the carpeting on the tailgate by going around the perimeter with a flathead screwdriver and poping the clips lose. Then you will see a door on each side of the tailgate. just remove the coresponding door with the burnt out light underneath and you will have access to the bulbs.
