Default Upgrade from 2004 Mark Levinson radio to 2005 Mark Levinson radio with XM button

So, can it be done. I have a 2004 LX470 with the Mark Levinson radio but as you know does not have the XM radio button which means I can not purchase the dealer installed XM radio which goes through the NAV screen. So, can I purchase the 2005 LX470 Mark Levinson radio with the XM radio buttoon and then purchase the dealer installed XM radio which goes through the NAV? If it can be done how much do you all think the total price of all this will be? Thanks everyone for the help

From what I've seen with similar vehicles (the Toyota Sienna comes to mind) is that even if you don't have the "SAT" buton, as long as you have the gen 4 nav the satellite integration should work the same. You just press the AM button again to toggle between AM/SAT.

I know people were posting about doing it successfully on systems without the SAT button on the Sienna forums (sorry - I can't remember/find the link)

I'm hoping it will be the same on my new 05 GX because I want the integrated satellite as well even though the radio head does not appear to have the AM/SAT button either.

I am in the same exact spot you are....never did get an answer though. Almost afraid to see how much it will be. Hope to hear from someone. Did you call Lexus service at your dealer?

I'm confused. You're saying that the Gen IV nav will allow you to toggle between SAT and AM?

How so?

The '03-'04 LX/LCs have the latest NAV without the SAT button, and I am unfamiliar in how you can "toggle" through.

I don't have a good technical reason for you - must be something to do with the latest nav ecu and the way it integrates with the mfd and audio sytem. I know that toyota sienna owners (who have a nav/radio head just like the ES without the AM-SAT button) have successfully installed the XM kit (not even made for their vehicle) and by simply pressing the AM button it would switch between am radio and the satellite radio - I believe the functionality is there it just may not be labeled.

Maybe someone with some more detailed knowledge on this will speak up.

Default LX470 Satellite Radio

If everything else fails, you can go this route.
