The irregularities in the cut is distracting.

Maybe if it wrapped around the edges . . . . . .

It's interesting, but a true bug deflector actually deflects those little guys upward and, 2/3 of the time, over the windshield. I always thought they looked a bit ghetto, but my '13 Cruiser came with a Toyota version on the hood. It's a pretty good match for my truck's gray paint, so it's not too obnoxious and I have a MUCH cleaner windshield

On OP's truck, I would have done the entire hood, or nothing at all...

This was my first attempt, will look better as I put the next one on, this film very inexpensive, but rocks and bugs had started to take a toll on the front bumper, just a different opinion

Much nicer than my 10th attempt if I were to try.

I posted this (below) thread on BMW. It is a pellet gun test against clear film. You may want to look at a clear vs CF film as it is more forgiving to install and very effective, without changing color.

3m makes a special film adhesive for when such films are stretched and glue gets thin. You could even wrap around the hood and go under if you clean the areas well, if you use the glue.

Take a look at the films' performance.

Also, X-pel, which is very highly rated in the prior link, has precut clear film that makes handling the edges much easier. They have full and partial kits here: http://www.xpel.com/paint-protection.../Lexus/LX_470/ Going uncut and doing that yourself, always saves money. As I am not handy at all, I would look for a clear film / clear bra installer.

RE the Xpel brand, 600 dollars for a bumper film kit, damn! Seems a bit steep.

Only 585 dollars more expensive than the raw materials, no markup there

I appreciate the benefit of a professional product, but at 600 dollars I think I would try my own application first.

See if you can pick up a roll of 3M, suntek or xpel on line. Several online dealers sell them. You can cut the clear yourself. Uncut rolls are much cheaper.

Also, there is a spray on version that will cost you under $100. I think it is a 3M product. Search: spray on clear bra or something similar and you will find it.
