Default TPMS sensors - OEM only or aftermarket

Do the TMPS sensors need to LX specific ie only through Lexus, or can you use others and have them coded for the LX? I have a set of Tundra 18" rims that I am looking to add sensors and tires and Discount Tire sells sensors with a lifetime guarantee, so I was thinking of getting them when I purchase the tires, but now I am wondering if I should purchase the sensors separately and have Discount install them onto the rims.
Thoughts?

Why not just use the ones that are in the car already?

I have a set of 1 year old tires on the OEM rims. I do not want to break these down to transfer the original 2010 sensors over to the 18" rims.

I recently purchased a second set of wheels and went with TPMS sensors from Rock Auto. They were almost 1/3 of the price that the Lexus dealer wanted. I had them installed at the tire shop.

Ah I see, that makes sense.

Ive used other rock auto parts with great success, and their shipping was fast to Australia only 13 days to arrive, still the quickest ive gotten yet.

I'll take a look at Rock Auto... right now, I can get the OEM sensors for $65 each. This is the same price Discount Tire is selling theirs for, as well.

all of a sudden ours is reading the spare at 26# which is low enough to trigger the warning but when I put a gauge to it its at 38#. I thought these worked or died, didnt realize they could miss read. Am curious how you fare with the after market ones as it looks like I have to swap one out.
