Default 2016 LX TPMS programming

Does anyone know if 2016 LX can remember 2 sets of tires or just one as any other Toyota?

2 sets, iirc. What's your owner's manual say. If you don't have the manual, you can download for free from the owners section of lexus.com.

My dealer said since 2013, it can only take one set of five tires. Gone is the way you could code summer/winter sets. Then again, I find the online communities are often more knowledgeable about tech capabilities of the cars than the dealers.

Clayton, I can confirm post-'13 answer above. The TPMS ECU, according to local Lexus and Toyota service managers, also looks for the TPMS sender's registration number series in its data base...if it doesn't find them, nothing happens...e.g., a Tundra sender may not be able to communicate with an LX or Land Cruiser TPMS ECU.

I've had a yellow light on the ip since I installed Tundra wheels with Blizzaks but definitely a first -world problem.

WTF, you are telling me I can't have one set of tires for cruising the mall and the other when I want to play in the dirt a little?

Yes and No.

If you can live with a false tire pressure warning when you have your off road tires on, you can play in the dirt without issues. Or, you have to program the TPMS with every switch.

You can supposedly program with Techstream, but you have to do it with every swap. Gone is the feature of being able to program 10 tires (5 summer, 5 winter or offload in your case). You keep programming 5 every time you swap.

Matt,

Understand, sure beat going to the dealer or tire shop every time doing the tire swap. There are two versions of techstream, one is for window XP cheap ~$20 to $30, but need to have a laptop that still has window XP. The newer one use window 7, cost about $700, but I don't know it will support window 10 or not.

This little guy is, so far, well thought of on Mud. I've got the disk and OBDII-USB cable. $60 and about a week from China. It supposedly runs well on Win 8 and previous versions back to XP. I've been too busy to install and play with it, but I will report back when I bet it cooking...

Thread on mud related to TIS overall...installation stuff starts around the middle of page 2. Posted by Luke27617 who I think is also a member here...

Yes please check to see if it work with window 8. My brother and cousin both got one each, the cousin one can't work with his XP laptop, only work with my brother XP laptop, and my brother techstream can't work on his own laptop... Crazy

I don't have window 8, my laptop is window 10. I don't think the Chinese techstream works with window 10... I need to find an old laptop with window XP

I have no idea and never will have...mine will run in a Win 7 window on a macbook pro.

There's a reason I linked to the cable and software on eBay...click, and read the software specs. You'll find what you need.

Not even bothering with the TPMS sensors if I get a different set of wheels. They're staying on the factory wheels.
