We have a 2 car garage.

My wife's car gets one spot, and my '87 Mustang gets the other.

The LX is inside a fence, under a carport, but it's stored outside. My friend thinks I'm insane that I keep a $5000 28 year old Ford inside, and the LX has to stay outside! LOL

I figure if these things can handle the Australian Outback, the Amazon basin, and the plains of Africa, it can handle being outside in Houston!

Houston has some pretty terrible air, I'd much rather keep the cheap Mustang outside. That Mustang isn't good for much more than doing a LS-swap.

Dang, I'm amazed your LX hasn't self dialed a social worker. The LX was a consideration in buying the house. Had to make sure the garage was truly oversized for it. Besides a garage at home, mine is in our office building's underground parking garage during the workday. I've been to Houston; I lived in other parts of Texas twice. I can't imagine a carport offering much protection from the environment. I'm going out in the garage right now and make sure my LX is happy in its climate controlled world.

Mine are in the garage pretty much full time in the winter. At the very least, it saves a bunch of scraping and brushing snow first thing in the morning. It may be out overnight in the fall or summer in good weather...I've got the oversized garage and I do most LX and Cruiser wrenching in the driveway...

If I had an '87 mustang, she'd get the garage automatically.

If you consider keeping the LX for long time you may want it to be in the garage, but if it just a lease

The old mustang should keep in the garage, and the other is your wife's... so... do you want a happy marriage? haha

Mine is in the garage. Simple math - I'd pay 20-30k for a good older LX, and $500 for a spotless Mustang. So which one goes inside?

Truth be told, I'm a hot rodder at heart. As much as I've always wanted a LC/LX, it's my workhorse and my daily driver. My fast stuff has always had a spot in the garage. I've had a Grand National, a Chevelle, and 7 Mustangs. Now, my wife's C6 Vette gets the other half of the garage.
