Considering a purchase of 2008 LX, need input
So I gave my 08 LS to my father since he enjoyed it and have been driving a Camry 09 SE V6 for the last several months. I have also since moved to the north, Michigan specifically.
I used to have an 06 LX470, now I am feeling the want for the LX again. Been researching the 08-10 range, more in line with the budget I want. Closer to 30k would be best.
I saw an 08 near me asking 31,995. 102k miles.

Vin number was checked out in the Lexus website. It looks like previous owner was from Baltimore area with regular scheduled maintenance performed at the dealership. Belt was changed around 90k.
My concern will be if there are any major repairs that will need to be performed. I read somewhere else that typically the "air" suspension needs repair around 120k miles.
Any input on things to watch out for? Planning to drive an additional 100k miles over the next 5-6 years on it.
My other choice is wait 4 years and purchase a 2016 certified when my income increases.

A blanket statement that the AHC (which, by the way, is hydraulic, NOT pneumatic) needing repair around 120K is incorrect. Tales of woe get posted quickly to the internet, tales of long life because the system is checked for function and little stuff is remedied before big stuff happens are rare.
Do some more homework in the 100-series section on ih8mud.com and go from there. AHC fluid needs flushing every 60K religiously...that takes ~ 30 minutes tops. It involves 1 wrench and 2 cans of AHC fluid (about $50-80 depending on where you get it). It takes ~20 minutes; maybe 30 minutes if you yank the reservoir and clean it up.
Given your location, you need to pay particular attention to rust...meaning the truck is on a lift with all underbody shields removed. Bring a good flashlight. Good luck.

I looked at the service records again and at 89,169 miles the note just says "belt replacement." Note sure what belt was replaced.
You have reassured me about the suspension story I read, which was only a single story. If I can negotiate them down to a 29.5k would be awesome. Would definitely do a buyer's inspection at the closest Lexus dealership prior to completing the purchase.

If you can wait I will say wait for a 16' used, although it is the same car but it has 2 more gears and inside looks much better.
And in 4 years there could be a redesign model, the current Gen will be almost 10 years old, need new fuel efficient engine, lighter weight, and updated tech if they decide to keep it in production, which should be since the Land Cruiser
You shouldn't have much problem even over 100K on Toyota if it was properly maintained or not driven by idiot. However, lower mileage is always better
Or you can look for a Land Cruiser which is same car underneath
They should have some lower mileage model listed but maybe further from your location

After thinking about it some more, I think I'll wait for a used 2016. I finish everything in Michigan by 2019 and will most likely move back to Texas. My uncle has the 2008 LX going strong so I just gave him a hint if he wants to prematurely sell it.
I honestly don't "need" a car. I just want one. I gave my LS to my father knowing that I would avoid salt damage to the vehicle and took on my old Camry back. It is just not meant to be. Need to wait patiently a little longer. I do want Bluetooth audio for sure to listen to my podcasts, can't live in a wired world anymore.

price dropped, I think it's a good deal. Well maintained via Lexus, the air suspension can go....or I've seen some that are over 150k miles with no issues (though this is via other Lexus vehicles, not a LX)
