Going to smaller Land Cruiser 18" wheel is best answer. Bolt patter should be the same, but lots of other options with Tundra wheels etc. And yes, after moving from 16" wheels on my 80 series, then 18" on my 100 Series, the 20" on my 200 Series make me even more nervous. Can't imagine 21" on the new one. ;-)
I guess the other option would be to go up a size in sidewall height, from 285 50 to 285 55.
BFG makes all terrains in that size. Anybody done that without any negative effects?

I actually battled with this problem because I wanted to go with a tire with more bite in it than the typical continental or Michelin. I ended up going with the continentals because going up to BFG's or Toyo's would have run me well over $1000. Another less popular option is you can size down to a 275/60R20. The diameter will be large on the 275 due to the higher side wall BUT you lose almost .5 inch of width. Sizing down will save you some $$$. I like the 20's so I never considered swapping out the wheels but I know there are plenty of options out there for cheap if you look around.
The tires that came on it are fairly new, so I'm not in a huge hurry. I just want to have a plan when it comes time.
So changing the overall diameter, whichever way you do it, wont mess up any of the electronic gadgetry like speed sensors, ABS, ride height adjustments, or anything?

I'm coming from a 1999 4x4 4Runner, so this thing is like trying to pilot an alien spacecraft after getting out of a Model T!
We went with the 20" Tundra wheels and 285/50/20 Blizzaks for winter wheel/tire setup. Because of the much deeper tread on the snow tires the truck drove sooo much smoother than the reasonably new Michelin Lattitudes on the Lexus 20" wheel.
Knowing the tread depth of BKG TKOs, I bet you'd feel more confidence because they have a stronger sidewall and those deeper treads. Basically stick with the 285/50 setup but beef up the truck/wheels at the same time.

I'm looking to do the same thing, for the same reason. I looked up and the 2010 LX actually had an 18" option for rims. I tried to see if I could get a set, but at $600 each, that WAS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! So, I am now looking at Tundra take offs from my local dealer, since I can get them at roughly $100 ea. With that said, the OEM 18" rims had the same dimensions as the LC, as the Tundra and Sequoia. So, you can take the LC rims and use them on the LX without issue. I would not mind having a set of the LC rims, but cannot find any so like I said, I am looking at the Tundra rims.
I do like the looks of the Tundra TRDs, but the cost is higher than I would like to spend, plus EVERYONE on the MUD is using them. I am thinking of powder coating the Tundra take offs to a darker grey before putting them on my 2010 LX.
