Default LX570 aftermarket remote starter?

I know Lexus has factory installed ones but engine shuts off when you open the door and from what I understand has very low range. Can the factory starter be connected to some iphone app to start the car?

Has anyone installed aftermarket remote starter? Can you use the same key/remote for our LX570? Which brand did you install and would you recommend it? How much did it cost including labor.

Thanks
I have 2010

Let me ask this in another way. How would I look up someone/company that installs remote starters? Under what trade would they be listed?
Auto alarm installer?
Auto stereo installer?

I also have a 2010 and I had the factory remote start added to my LX and I really like it. I doubt you can run it from the iPhone, but it does work off of your existing key fob. I checked into aftermarket remote starts and they all require a separate fob, which was not going to work for me at all. I was able to buy and have it installed by Lexus for under $500. There was a guy selling them in Guam for the 2010 on eBay, its OEM and worked perfect. New in box. I paid $235 for the unit. I called a couple Lexus dealers and asked what it would cost for the remote starter and then asked how much from the total was for the part and how much for the install and then said I would like to schedule the install. That was $200.

Lexus dealer is quoting $1000 installed. (short range)

Viper dealer is asking for $599 plus $140 for the bypass so the ignition will not shut off and will work with iPhone. Only thing is, it won’t work with Lexus fob. I would have to carry both fob around. ( I can start the engine from my bedroom or at the office, up to a mile away).

I'd go with the stock. Having the car stop when the door opens is a safety feature and not a hassle, after all you start the car when you get in it normally don't you?

Say to your dealer,

1) Wow $1,000 that's a lot to install a remote starter.
2) How much is for the part and how much are you charging for the install.
3) Say I would like to schedule an install and buy one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/140865309990...990%26_rdc%3D1

I know those say for 2010-2011, but will they work for 2008 models? If not is there a stock one that will? Thanks.

I don't know, send a note to the seller on eBay, then call a parts department and verify. Mine works great and it is nice to have OEM.

Ok, I visited the Viper dealer and spoke to them and had them go over how everything works. Also spoke to the owner and he said he will do the package for $699.

I can start the car with my iPhone and car doesn’t shut off if I have my OEM fob, without it, if brake is applied, car shuts off. I do not have to carry the Viper fob if I do not want to. I can just use my iPhone to remote start the car. I like this option better than the OEM. I like the idea of being able to start the car from inside the building in a cold weather conditions without going all the way down to the lobby, near my car to remote start it.

Update: I had the Viper installed for $775 with iPhone, remote smart start. I have to subscribe to use my iPhone to start my car via satellite. Annual fee of $49.95. I can start my car from anywhere in the world. Why would I want to? No idea but it’s nice to know I can. LOL

There is no way around Lexus auto shutoff and open the door with the touch of the door handle. It’s one or the other. I kept the auto shutoff feature so I can open my door with a touch.

Little remote I got with the Smart Start is pretty nice and it’s small. I can also add many more features if I wanted. All in all, I am very happy with it.

I can start my car with Siri.

I had it done at http://carstereosystemsva.com/
Fairfax, VA
Owners name is Frank, great guy to deal with.

I prefer OEM and one fob to two fobs and not paying $50 per year to use my phone. Plus my OEM total purchase plus install was $275 less than the aftermarket Viper. To each their own.

You really got a great deal for your system. Dealers around Washington DC Metropolitan area aren't cheap and none will do it for less than $1,000.

First, I do not have to carry both fob, I only carried it to run some tests. Now, I am satisfied with how things works, I only carry my Smart Card in my wallet. I use my iPhone to auto start.

We drive $80K ~$90K SUV, I really don’t think $50 annum will hurt our wallets for the privilege of starting our cars from anywhere in the world via satellite.

I enjoy starting my car from my office with my iPhone which is on the 5th floor facing the opposite side of the parking lot.

Yes, I agree 100% to "each to his/her own". Cheers!

Installed Fortin EVO-ALL @ $160 bucks all in.
So far works great, 3 times press lock on factory remote and engine starts, open the door - it shuts. Exactly as needed. Range of original fob.
Took about 1,5hr by car audio tech.
