Iirc, they're 8mm bolts. 14mm is the wrench size that fits them.

And when you're done, replace all 8 back in their holes with a bit of black silicone on the threads. You'll also see an open hole on each side of the floor...it's toward the rear of the aft seat mount and is normally covered by the mount. The holes are not threaded. I sealed mine with a bit of black silicone and a piece of gaffer's tape. Snap-in plastic hole plugs w/ black silicone would look better.

Above instructions should be sufficient. Some anxiety in pulling the plastic, but a plastic wedge tool of some type to get it going and just ease into separating the parts and you'll be fine. Seats even stay pretty much vertical while you unscrew the four bolts. Also suggest taping off the electrical connection, slide it off the hold down plug and tuck it under the remaining plastic to keep if from getting damaged if you plan on loading stuff in that area. I tucked the right side into the same compartment the jack is in. The left side found a home under a gap in the remaining plastic piece.

Add some carpet padding to fill the holes, then drawers going on top.
AND once they're removed, where did you get a cargo mat to fit without having to special order?
This is probably your best bet...

I searched for this topic and this thread is the top result.

I am considering doing this mod, anyone know how much the rear seats weigh?
Any pics of the seatless area to show the difference/what's left of the seat mount? Thanks.

About 115lbs total if I remember correctly. About the same weight as a set of ARB drawers. Heavier than the Land Cruisers, since the LX has motors.

All the hardware comes out with the seats. Just plastic and carpet with holes in the various mounting spots.

This is of an LC, but might help: http://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/proj...#post-10115044

Great thanks. That's not insignificant even on a 6200 pound vehicle.

I did this today. Very easy to remove, 4 x 14mm sockets on each side, drop the seat slightly, disconnect and untuck the cable from the seat, and remove the seats. 115 pounds off the rear axle and more space.
