Default Undercarriage Rust on 3 month old facelift 2012 LX570 (my2013 in US)

So we got this "new" face lift 2012 LX570 from our local dealer. It's was a 3 month old demo but had only about 2000 miles. We hardly used the car at all. Just brought it home and one short drive thereafter. Perhaps less than 100 miles done by us.

I noticed a couple of rust spots and raised the issue with the dealer. They took the car in and informed me that it they can fix it by rust proofing. They had the car on a lift when I went to the workshop. I looked underneath and the rust was everywhere: hubs, casings, differential, etc. I spent about $100k for this vehicle and told them I would accept nothing less than a replacement car as I have bought 8 Lexus from them and this is our 3rd LX570.

I am not disclosing dealer name / location yet as they promised to sort things out so I'll give them a few more days.

We've never seen any rust (atleast not until the car is few years old) on any Lexus. Not sure what's going on with this car but the dealership GM is not as responsive as I would've expected.

Not happy with the car or the slow response of the dealer

That sucks that your new LX570 has this issue, historically Toyota body on frame suvs and trucks seem to show excessive surface rust on the frame and chassis. My LX that we owned certainly had its fair share of chassis rust.

Chassis rust does not usually hurt vehicle performance but it does look sore on the eyes. Eventually brake lines and things like that show more rust as the years add on.

I do hope Lexus will help you, but generally minor rust on the chassis is normal.

What region do you live in?
