Oil Synthetic for LX 570
Hi,
Anyone know what is the best oil to use for the LX570 ?
i use 5W-30 but i am not sure if it is the best for my country condition:
i am actually located in CAMBODIA so the weather is really hot.
some people advice on 0W20 or 0W30 but isnt it for Cold country?
any suggestion or advice is really appreciated.
Thanks

I'm in Qatar and Its hotter then ever reaching ( 53 C )
We only use Lexus MOTOR OIL SM 5W-40 Full Synthetic
My dealership recommended changing the oil every 3000 Miles.
due to the harsh weather.

1) I would ONLY follow what is written in the Owner manual
2) For summer I would recommend the 5-20W
3) For winter I would recommend the 0-20W
Does anyone know the difference? When the Oil is HOT, there is no difference between the two above. The spec on the cars manual on the high end is 20W, isn’t that correct? Then do not exceed that. Even for the folks that live in Qatar or very HOT climents, do not exceed the 20W mark period. Follow the manual ONLY not what the local dealer tells you. The new Lexus engines are made with a lot more precision given the advance technologies in machining these days therefore the engine tolerances and seals used at the time of design they designed the engine with the 0-20W and 5-20W.....Please make no exceptions. Going higher 30W or 40W is a thicker oil and as moving parts are moving with tight tolerances, its hard for the thicker oil to properly lubricate in tight spots. Also its more pressure on seals as thicker oil has a higher level of resistance. Think of a shock absorber: thinker oil moves it slower and lighter oil moves the shock faster due to less pressure build up.
Now as far as the lower number of 0 vs 5. This impacts the cold starts. Both are excellent but the 0 will lubricate the engine more and oil will move easier faster thru out the engine at cold starts but once the engine warms up, both are the same.
So again for very cold climents use the 0-20W for hot use the 5-20W. for in-between you can alternate winter vs summer.
Now as far as brand, that is personal taste. I would use Mobil 1 only. Please note there is a difference between Mobil 1 vs Mobil super synthetic. Both are great but the Mobil 1 has more additives and hence more expensive. The Mobil 1 has been used for a long long time and I would not go cheap on an LX570. Stick to the Mobil 1. The Super is a cheaper version of Mobil 1 and does not have all the protection that Mobil 1 has. Many of the Toyota dealers and Lexus dealers went cheap to improve the margins and now have the Mobil super synthetic instead of Mobil 1. You have an LX and this is a 80K SUV. USE Mobil 1 and use only original factory filter. Do not use substitutes. period. that’s my two cents.
