Crummy XM Satellite Reception
The XM in our 2010 LX is our first experience w/ satellite radio. We definitely like the wide selection of stations. We assumed that tinny, AM-like sound was part of the deal. This morning I dropped the LX off at the dealer for the 5k service. The dealer is out of Lexus loaners so they gave me a Camry. The XM on the Camry is as rich and full as the best FM reception, nothing like the crummy XM we're getting on our LX. My service guys going to look into it. Has anyone else had this? If so, what was the problem and solution? Thanks.
P.S. We live in San Diego so none of the reception problems are weather related.

Glad to hear as I have never had a complaint about the ML radio in my LX being tinny

XM Questions
I traded my 09 LX for an 11 LX last month. The 09 had good reception--the 11 is terrible--is this something the service dept at Lexus can fix? I also changed my radio ids over in my XM account. Talked to an XM tech in "India", and that person would not give me credit for the 90 days free that comes with each LX--anyone had a similar experience?

I have found that the XM reception is the WORST in the auto industry! It loses signal at inappropriate locations...wide open space on a highway. To make matters worse, our other car, an Acura never loses reception in the same places... or anywhere else when not blocked by a physical building (in New York city) or tunnel.
Had the same issue with 2009 ES350 and ended up putting my little portable XM in the car with NO problems afterward. Lexus Arbitration told me that the radio does not affect the "performance" of the car, so I should have no complaints." Why does Lexus contend that they are interested to solve problems with their cars? They ought to read their own Mission Statement!
