Default GPS and Alaska

I cannot get my GPS to see Alaska. Is there a update or different disk I need to buy to get Alaska included. 3rd party GPS work just fine, but seems to me that my Lexus GPS is missing that whole state.

Thanks

I believe there is sections on the GPS like US1, US2, US3
That's how I was able to get an address down in South Carolina
and I'm in LA. So try messing with the setting when inputting an
address or your main display settings, I would tell you where to
go exactly but I'm not near my car, I believe our GPS's might be
the same, I have an IS

If you do not see Alaska as available to select when you are choosing your region, I am afraid that it does not include it

What part of alaska are you in? I grew up in Anchorage off of Boniface Parkway.

Call the dealer and ask as I just went out to my RX400h and I have the lower 48 and Canada but no Alaska. Then let us know.

Well here is the answer that I got from the main Lexus Web site.

"I apologize, but the navigation update discs do not include Alaska"

So I am out of luck with my current LX570 from now and probably forever.

Anyone have a suggestion? What other GPS does anyone recommend.

Thanks

Larry

Does the TOMTOM Pro 8000 come with Alaska built in maps? What does your wife think of this model?

Well I am very upset that the LX 570 with a built in GPS cannot include Alaska in the map. Almost all the regular GPS from Garmin and TomTom have a base map built in that includes Alaska, United States, Canada, Hawaii etc. Lexus let me down big time and indication that they are in a hurry to fix the mistake.

I'm with you. I've been waiting for years for Lexus to offer maps in Hawaii. That being said, don't quote me, but I do believe that latest version 7.1 DVD update now included maps of Hawaii and Alaska. If it indeed does have the maps for our state, you will have to purchase the update DVD for your particular generation navigation system. In my case of the 2003 GS, it would be a Gen 2/3, but for your year and car it could be a Gen 4, or Gen 5 and so forth.

Over all, I do find it kind of sad that it took Lexus up to the year 2008 to offer what the competition has been offering in our state for years (As early as 2002 or earlier).

Edit, I just read your latest posts that said it doesn't offer Alaska maps. That really is lame of Lexus IMHO. My pocket PDA had Hawaii and Alaska maps for nearly a decade now.

I'd try to find out which company makes the lexus navigation CD's and ask them.. dont go to the lexus dealership itself.. they never know what there doing..

but making those CD's are expensive.. so im sure if lexus hired another company to make the navigation's.. they will use that same product on other cars
