I work for Toyota in Sarasota. Today I was told that the 09 Land Crusier will now have privacy glass standard from the factory. This was also published on Toyota's pressroom site. I think this pretty much guarantees that next years LX will have it as well.

"For 2009, the Land Cruiser full-size SUV adds factory privacy glass on the rear side and quarter windows as standard equipment. The base MSRP for the Land Cruiser will be $64,755, representing an increase of $655, or 1.0 percent."

Quite frankly, it is a big joke that a $70-85,000 car does not have privacy glass when my wife's BASE V6 Highlander had it...and so does my Sienna (which replaced the Highlander). My G500 has it as standard. My brother's LX470 had it standard.

Along with the hideous fake wood in the new Land Cruiser, this lack of privacy glass ranks right up there with how ridiculous Toyota/Lexus are treating their loyal customers!

There was a post in the car chat forum that said the LX570 gets this for 2009 and also a new color and finally america gets bubinga wood.

Thai - I agree with you wholeheartedly. My 2006 LC and pretty much all SUVs on the planet have privacy glass - I just don't get who is making these silly decisions at Toyota these days. And yes, get rid of the silly faux wood, it is astounding a 73,000 vehicle has this standard. I wonder how hard it would be to replace the center section of the steering wheel with real wood or just leather? They also need to make the 3rd row and rear spoiler easily removable. If I really wanted a 3rd row for people hauling, I probably wouldn't be looking at the LC anyway.

I think early RX models came with very light green tint. Not sure about early 100 series Land Cruisers but the 200 series should at least come with it.
