2008 Lexus LX470 spy pics
The brawny Lexus LX470 was introduced in 1998, and since then has had a couple of minor updates. Now these latest photos capture a future LX470 that is restyled and updated inside and out.
Caught during secret testing in southern Europe, the crew of engineers from Japan and Belgium had along with the prototype the current Toyota Landcruiser as well as a Mercedes ML for comparison.
At the front, the new Lexus revises the grille to have only 3 central horizontal bars instead of 4, and also integrates the headlights into a single unit instead of the two light clusters on each side used before. The front bumper is all new, but carries over the general shape with twin horizontal slots and a tapered solid area in the middle. Rear styling is almost unchanged, but has restyled taillights.
The interior is completely new, and features a very large screen for the navigation system surrounded by push buttons located both at the sides of the screen and below it. Styling of the passenger compartment looks even more luxurious than before, including wood trim even around the push buttons on the steering wheel.
The new Lexus LX470 should be ready for release some time in 2007.

Wow, great find these spyshots are ... that interior looks wonderful, with the wood on the steering wheel, and that centre screen is huge, reminds me of the new LS. I hope this is the model we get, because rumours have said that the LX may not be around in the US any longer.
The styling looks more muscular and sporty at the same time, and now I wonder what engine will it have ... the Tundra's 5.7L V8 perhaps, or something else?

Sources tell us it will be the first vehicle to employ the next generation 'larger format' video screens...

Damn thing looks like a 9-10" TV screen.

Is it really 9in?? Damn I was basing my guess on the LS460 screen too. LOL.
This definitely looks a lot bigger than the LS460 IMO. Maybe by an inch and half or so.

Oops, my bad. I checked my source and it is 8 inches, not 9. Sorry about that.

The pixels as listed on the site are 800 x 480 IIRC.
I agree the 3LX screen looks huge.

The front really reminds me of the GX. I honestly dont think Lexus would make the LX look similar too a GX.
If its going to be the LX, most likely will have the same Toyota Tundra 5.7 Liter engine.
*Shrugs* as I said before time will only tell.
Thing is the 5.7 - Liter V8, will have for sure over 327 - 333 hp.
Hopefully we will see the 8-speed auto in this.
If it is the new LX, hope too see a Hybrid version, 5.7 Liter V8, which in turn is similar to like a 6.7 Liter V12 pumping out some ridiculous amount of power like close too 500 horsepower, which would compete with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo or Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.
LX670h, if this happens, the price would for sure be between $85,000 - $95,000 starting. Hope too see alot of the LS features in this for once.
Something like this would for sure harm Porsche.
