2008 LX570 owner considering a 2017
Just wondering if anyone on here has made the jump from a pre-facelift to the current LX570? We bought ours new in 2008 and currently have 128k miles with no major issues to-date. As it is, the LX570 performance is adequate for my purposes as it spends 90% of its time on the highway for family roadtrips. In fact, I use it at least once a month for 800-1500 mile round-trip road trips which explains the high miles.
My concern with the '17 is that several instrumented tests have shown the '17 to be appreciably slower than previous '08-16 models.
My question: I was wondering if any one here had actual experience and noticed a performance drop-off going from the 08-15 6-speed/5.7 to the heavier 8-speed/5.7 '17?

I have an '08, half the miles of yours and I test drove a 2016. Quiet, lovely interior and 8 speed, otherwise, same vehicle. Seemed smoother, but not faster. I drive mine on rough roads, once a week, and on interstate road trips, twice a year. Great vehicle, but I can't justify the big bucks for the limited upgrade, YMMV. Waiting for 2018? Rear seat entertainment system was a deal killer for me, ugly and obtrusive and useless in today's world. I was set to buy a new RX, but wow, can't stomach that "styling". I am sitting tight for now.

i would personally wait and see the next generation lx which should be here late 2018 or 2019.
lots of major changes coming to this line for sure.
Lx is a dinosaur, even the refreshed current version.
No reason why u should feel on moving from 08 to 16+ unless u really want. Many here will have buyers remorse with next generation around the corner

I am fully committed to not having buyer's remorse when the new generation comes out. Instead, if its any good, I will purchase the new generation, and get rid of the current one

We mentioned this in another post, but my wife and I are on the hunt for a LX. We test drove a 10, 13 and brand new 16 here in the Dallas area....to be honest the ride across all was very similar. She liked how "neat" the interior was of the 16, couldn't tell a difference in the transmission. That is why my wife is dead set on a LX...be it the new 2016 with 123 miles, used 2013 with 50k miles or used 2010 with 88k miles, it all drove VERY similar so the quality doesn't erode over time.
Side note OP, if you are near-ish to Dallas and eventually do unload your 2008, PM me. =)

Just got a 17...no buyers remorse here. The new styling on the exterior and interior are great! I liked buying a model that had been around a while mechanically (except for the transmission). Even though I bought a NX and RC F in their first year and had no issues...my preference would be at least a 2nd or preferably 3rd year of a new model. LX is by far my favorite Lexus to date. Can't answer the question about 0-60 having not owned a previous LX, but power has been plenty adequate for me.

If it is indeed a new generation, keep waiting and more waiting for them to filter out a few bugs here and there in the new generation, which always happens with new ones. BTW, where did you hear that they will have a new generation and what do you expect in the new generation will have (10 speed transmission like LC 500, turbo charge) ?

Rumor has it that 2018 is when the Sequoia gets a much-needed revamp; I'd like to assume they would tweak the powertrain (maybe 9 speed, probably stick with an 8 speed...same 5.7L but refine it) and change the sheetmetal on it. The internal electronics are heavily criticized for being behind the times; while functional, I'd argue the FCA UConnect is much more intuitive for much less money....except there is no FCA vehicle I would consider buying.
Rumors being rumors, it would be logical for the LC and LX to go under the knife 2019 or 2020...I merely speculate but since 2016 is a "fresh" version for LC/LX, I think 2018 is too soon for them to completely redesign it...doesn't make too much financial sense. Plus the LC/LX is such a low volume unit in the US, it wouldn't make that much of an impact.

Toyota ran the 100 series, both Cruisers and LX's, from 1997 to 2007, so I don't find that they're necessarily "behind the times" with the 200 series. The North American market gets ~ 7000 200's a year. All get sold, most with far less of a discount off sticker than other models, including the Sequoia. 200's are designed with a 25 year life cycle, so "revamp" intervals are immaterial. If you're heart and brain are set on getting a 200, that's what you'll get.

Great responses from everyone. I think I will probably end up waiting for the next gen. I love the interior of the new model but it wouldn't make sense since this '08 still run and drives, literally, like new. I agree with Wandle that these don't deteriorate with miles, as long as they are cared for. I drove my brother's 2013 LX570 awhile back when his had 20k miles and mine had 110k. I perceived zero difference in performance. With regards to being "behind the times" that's likely why Toyota's have such good re-sale value and age well as they are not constantly changed and they stick with what works, not to mention they are specifically engineered for durability. My only gripe with this vehicle has always been the fuel range. I don't mind that it's a gas hog, as that's exptected, I just wish it had a larger fuel tank.

Not for me
I came to the same conclusion. I mean it is the same truck ('08 vs '17), except for the interior, which, I admit, is deluxe and the tranny. My big road trips are declining, and 300 miles is as far as my bladder will go, so a good match with the LX gas tank. This is the best interstate vehicle I have ever owned (900 mile in a day and a half last year) and a great SUV for the beach (photos from last week).
I will wait for the next generation, I hope I am not too old.

Performance difference would hardly be noticeable. Biggest change would be the tranny.
I owned the 2008 and you are in for a treat going to the 2017.
