Default AHC light blinking 1999 Lexus LX 470

I have been researching the choice I have made to replace the AHC system (shocks and rear Springs) on my 1999 LX. With the help from the Club forum member hankinid, I have checked underneath the car to see if I could get to the upper shock mounts. They can be reached by pulling the carpet back behind the rear seats to expose the access plugs. That's not a problem but I have not seen the hydraulic line that is suppose to be on the rear shocks. Is there one on the 1999 LX? My second question is, if I'm not concerned about the ride height, do I have to replace the springs and adjust/replace the torsion bars. I'm going to use the shocks from the Land Cruiser.

The upper mounts for the rear shocks won't have access plugs from the factory...if plugs are there, someone has drilled or punched them. Good news, as you can use an pneumatic tool to remove them. Without plugs, you're using a 22 mm Gearwrench with a flexible end to remove the nuts about 1/4 turn at a time...a PITA.

You'll have to replace the front bars...Land Cruiser bars are cheapest, but there are a lot more choices available...check sleeoffroad.com for examples.

Thanks for the info regarding the interior access to the shocks. The holes were neat, finished with painted edges. It looks factory with fitted plastic covers. I've seen this on other cars. I still don't see the hydraulic lines running to the shocks though.
