Default VGSR blinking! Help!

2006 LX 470, 137K miles.
While trying a fix to AC, I removed the negative end of the battery connector/cable, took out the ac relay fuse and hit it a little bit. When I put everything back together, the AC did not work, but I had another problem: the VGSR started blinking for the first time. I drove it around a little, but it didn't go away.

Help please. I have already spent a lot trying to fix the AC which is still not working.

Update: 4/28/16
Today I drove the LX to work. After a U-turn, the VGSR blinking light disappeared. I have noticed no difference in running and handling of the car.
I hope this problem does not return as I am already frustrated enough by the AC not working.

Default Variable Steering reset on Lexus LX470

The variable steering will reset automatically after driving the vehicle as the computer will relearn the driving characteristics. In your case, this is good that all is well. Anytime there is a short to the electrical system and the computer doesn't reset after driving a few miles- the column harness could be damaged and need replaced. Sometimes this can happen with battery reverse polarity or welding on the vehicle without removing the battery cables. The harness is a thin ribbon and cannot handle excessive voltage/current overloads.
