Default New Guy...Vehicle Purchase Advice

Hey Guys!

New here. Been looking around the forums the last week or more, really like what I read and see. I just recently sold my '05 F-250 Diesel on 37's and am in the market for a great reliable vehicle. My folks are consistent Suburban and Land Cruiser folk and I have owned an '07 4Runner (bought new), '06 Tundra Crew Cab and now '05 F-250. You can say I'm kinda all over the place. I am trying to narrow down what I would like next. Pickups are out so SUVs are the choice. I am new to the GX470s but am really liking what I see, especially when modifications are done to them. Just random background on me, my daily work commute is 8 miles round trip, I spend time driving down to another location to go on the beach to fish and whatnot. I may start snowboarding again so trips to the mountains are being considered but it mainly will be my daily driver, driven around town. That is what I plan to use it for. Anyone here have some spare time sitting around and wants to reply, it would be great. I am also looking to modify this vehicle as well. Lift, bigger tires (33's or 35's) and wheels, etc. Best solutions with that in mind. Any help is greatly appreciated. Keep up the great community life on here!

Clint

***EDIT...Please move to proper subforum "GX - 1st Gen (2004-2009)"...thank you***

If you arent already on that forum, I highly suggest joining IH8MUD.com (hope it's not against Club Lexus rules to mention another forum). That's going to be your best place for offroad feedback on these vehicles and most Toyota/Lexus trucks.

I know Lexus GX470 had an issue where the dashboard vinyl starts to develop cracks from old age (I imagine it has to do with the material expanding and contracting in cold and hot climates. There was no fix for it for a while, and as you can imagine replacing the dash with a new piece is not cheap. However, because there were so many complaint, there is a recall for it now, and if you get placed on the waiting list, the dealer will replace it for you at no charge.

I know a guy that purchased a GX470 with almost 200k (not sure of the year but perhaps its an 03, 04 or 05) and had the dash board replaced, at the dealer, free of charge.
