Lucas UCL with Cleaner vs Techron
Getting ready to drive 1500 or so miles over the next week (freeway miles) in my 2000 LX 470 which has 129k miles on it.
I've run the lucas treatment in it a few times over the last several years and generally run Chevron or Shell gas in the car (varies between regular and premium)
Was wondering if i should dum a bottle of the lucas OR the techron into the tank during this roadtrip?
Should I do one lucas on the way (about 700 miles) and one techron on the way back?
Not having any issues per se (touch wood) but want to keep this car for another 75k miles or so and want to do what I can to prolong the engine.

If you want to prolong the life of the engine, run good gas in it. That's it. There is zero need to run fuel cleaner in it, let alone as often as people do, except to make yourself feel better. If you really want to make yourself feel better, run fuel cleaner through it once a year.

Both of them are fuel treatments that are marketed as being able clean the combustion chambers, injectors, etc. That being said, it's a moot point when you run decent fuel through it and regularly change your oil with high quality oil. If you feel the need to run a cleaner through it, I certainly wouldn't be doing it every few hundred miles. Maybe once every 8,000-10,000 miles. And if you want to have your injectors cleaned, I would remove them and have them cleaned, rebuilt, and flow-matched by a professional.
At least Lucas UCL is cheaper, since it only costs $9.00 for 32 fl ounces.

I have 126K miles on my 2000 LX 470 and have rarely used any combustion chamber or fuel injector cleaners. I run branded regular fuel. If I was doing any trailer hauling or heavy duty use, I would use premium fuel only then. These engines are well designed and forgiving. There are many higher performance engines that have much higher output for engine size that require fuel injector cleaners so that they idle and run well.
For example there are 4.2 Liter engines that put out 400HP almost twice what this 4.7 Liter engine provides.
