Default Headlight Bulbs

Hi All,
Newbie here. I'd like to know if i can upgrade my 55 watt headlight bulbs on my 2001 LX470 to 100 watt without damaging the wiring harness or light enclosures. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you want a brighter output from your headlights install a hid kit. www.retrofitsource.com has the morimoto elite kit H1 size bulbs which is fantastic. Huge difference

With the HID kit though you might have the squirrel spotters. LXBriGuy installed an HID kit on his 07LX and posted a few photos of what it looks like. Let us know what you decide on doing and post pics! I've also been wanting to change out the low beams and fogs but I don't want the squirrel spotters or to drill into the covers for the fogs since they're exposed to the wheel well.

Thchinaman, look on the hid forum "hid on lx confused" & you'll see the pics I took when I installed my hid kit to my truck. With no squirrel spots

Default Headlights

Thanks everyone for the input. I don't want HID's, so I'm going to try some Osrams that are rated to be 100% more light than O.E.M. @4000K. I'll keep you updated.
Now, are there any tuning chips that actually work, and is anyone running a throttle body spacer? It worked pretty well on my '07 FJ Cruiser.
Thanks Again

One of the main reasons why I installed hids is because my wires use to burn out a lot. Since the install I have no more problems

If the projectors were swapped out with another set, would there still be squirrel spots? No, right? Also, at what temperature did you bake the headlamps and did you just stick them back together and bake again for them to be sealed again?

Once you get headlight out the truck. There are 4 clips you need to remove along with 1 screw. Preheat your over to 400 degrees. Turn off the oven then set your headlight in the oven on a block of wood for ten mins. Take you a flathead screwdriver or pry bar & just remove the lens on the low beam projector side only. The bezel just clips out the way. Remove 2 screws holding the bracket then remover the projector lens. Be careful not to break the the ring clip that secures the lens because it'll break easily. I use a dremel tool to grind out the squirrel spots then cover the spots with foil tape. Put it all back together in reverse.

Default Easy headlight upgrade

I too was looking at upgrading the headlights on my 2001 LX 470, so I decided to try the easy way first.

I went to my local auto part store and had them infall Sylvania zXe bulbs. they don't charge for installation and it only cost $55 for the bulbs.

They are designed to look like HIDs but without having to deal with complicated installation or expensive ballasts.

Take a look at this article:

I love mine!

Nothing will beat a HID kit--Period! And if you can install a Bulb you can install a HID kit--I got mine from xenondepot.com and been running low beams and fogs for about 4 years with Zero issues--output of the light is awesome. Its 100% plug and play into your existing harness and run a ground wire and one to the battery, simple as that.....
