This morning I got out of the vehicle and was walking by the front and got a pretty strong whiff of brake smell. I'm guessing the front caliper is frozen - yet again. Anyone else have an issue with the front calipers? What caliper replacement did you use? Did you rebuild it yourself? Ideas?

It's getting on time to repack the wheel bearings so this is not terrible timing but I certainly don't like eating rotors and pads and locking calipers.

I am surprised you have problems with the front brakes. My rear pads wear out at about 30K miles while the front pads last about 100K miles. I would suspect a leaking brake line if I smelled brake fluid. Hope you find the source soon.

Its a burning pad smell not a brake fluid smell.

I'm at 146K. I just installed the 2nd pair of rear pads a month ago. I'd look at why you are eating rear brakes.

The fronts went about 80-90K. The same caliper froze and it ate one of the pads so I did both wheels. I think it might have made 100K if that had not happened.

I've changed to ceramic only with the 1st change and I am very happy with that. The brake dusts reduction alone makes it blessing.
